It’s a good time for online poker when the nights draw in over the Northern hemisphere and the weather cools off.
Just hours after the Ontario online poker market opened, BetMGM launched in Ontario, and has been there for almost five months. Later in the month, bWin and partypoker joined BetMGM. The companies are part of a three-skinned network in the province.
It was a victory over the competition
In the Ontario market, the BetMGM Network has been in close competition with the PokerStars. Those U.S. states with legal poker are in danger of being overtaken by that market. BetMGM has an average of 180 concurrent cash tables at the moment. Most of the time, BetMGM’s U.S. markets hover around concurrent 100 tables.
There have not been any big tournament series. There has been a lot of activity in the competition.
It seems likely that BetMGM will follow in the footsteps of their competitors when the ONCOOP kicks off. BetMGM would be able to catch some cross- platform multi-tables if they were overlapping with ONCOOP.
ONCOOP will be the third big series in the Ontario market, impressive work on such a short time scale. There is a series going on at 888poker.
The BetMGM staff may be cautious in setting the bar too high for the Ontario Poker Championship because early tournaments on BetMGM Ontario had large overlays.
