It was first introduced in 1982 and is one of the most popular draw-based games in Canada. The country-wide game has generated more than $65 billion in sales and more than $33 billion in prizes, with 1.6 billion total winners. The lotteries decided to make the game even more appealing.

It’s coming this Wednesday

From September 14, 2022, Ontarians will be able to play the new and improved version of Lotto 6/49. There will be two multi-million dollar prizes up for grabs for the same entry ticket of CA$3, which will be drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The main draw will be renamed to the new Classic Draw, with a fixed prize of CA$5 million.

The chance to win additional prizes for matching as few as two numbers on one entry is also included in the Classic Draw. The CA $1 million Guaranteed Prize Draw will be replaced by the Gold Ball Draw. A growing windfall that starts at CA$10 million and can reach CA$60 million will be won by the winner of this new jackpots.

The new version of the draw-based offering had a special draw on Saturday, September 10, 2022, in order to clear all the prizes. A fresh start for the new version will be achieved by this. There will be no carryover from the September 10th draw to the first draw of the new product on September 14 according to the Crown.

Similar to the previous rules of the game, the new one will award a prize to any selection that matches all six main numbers on one line. If there is no winning 6/6 selection in the first draw, the prize money will be divided among the winners of the bonus and the 4/6 prize brackets.

Many hefty cash prizes have been delivered to Ontarian players by Lotto 6/49 over the last three decades. In January of this year, the OLG announced that a prize worth over CA$36.4 million was won in the city of Barrie. In the last two years, a multi-million-dollar lottery ticket has been assigned to four different locations.

The Quebec Delays introduction is brief

Not all Canadian provinces will be able to enjoy the new version of the lottery. Due to the fact that its professional employees have gone on a strike, the launch of the new product will be delayed. After the September 10 draw, the Crown is suspending draws for the game.
