Presidential Election Wagering for Ontarians is launched by DraftKings

The next Presidential Election in the US can now be bet on by Ontario bettors who enjoy novelty wagers. Donald Trump has the best odds of winning the presidential election in 2024 according to the sportsbook which just launched into the province’s iGaming and sports betting market.

The next vote for a new leader of the United States is 846 days away. The new offering from DraftKings only applies to Ontario-based bettors, as the sportsbook is only licensed to operate in the province’s private market. Political betting is not allowed in the U.S. with it being only available in a few states.

Fans of novelty wagers can now place their bets on who the next US President will be on the DraftKings platform. According to the official odds published by the sportsbook, Mr. Trump is in the lead with odds of +250.

President Biden and his Vice President Harris are next in the odds at +500 and +120, respectively. According to the sportsbook, there are other candidates who could challenge the above mentioned runners, and one of them has odds of 30/1.

The popular actor and former wrestler, The Rock, has odds of 45/1 to win the election, as well as the Americanentrepreneur, media proprietor, investor, computer engineer, and CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, who has odds of 65/1. The odds of the hip-hop artist becoming president are 100/1.

American bettors should be aware that the new novelty option only applies to players located in Ontario. Political gambling is not allowed in the US. US residents can place bets on the election via the Iowa Electronic Markets or the website PredictIt.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario issued a monetary fine to DraftKings after they debut in Ontario’s iGaming market. According to the AGCO, the sportsbook has violated the standards for internet gaming. The company had promoted boosted odds for hockey matches during the NHL playoffs.

BetMGM and PointsBet Canada, which are provincially licensed to operate in the market, have also been punished by the AGCO. BetMGM was fined CA$48,000 for violating Standard 2.04 and 2.05 by promoting a “CA$240k Launch Party”. PointsBet was hit with a CA$30,000 penalty for putting up posters in GO stations.
